Developed by Envision, the Virtual Reality (VR) Cyber Security Facility is a STEM Initiative by: National Security Agency (NSA) National Center for Academic Excellence-Cyber (NCAE-C) program Regions Invested in the Next Generation (RING) program.

The original purpose of the VR Cyber Security Facility was to attract high school STEM students into the field of cyber security by offering them a realistic VR simulation of what their career workplace and activities might look like. The facility and program are now expanding into training and simulation for the academic and professional workforce. The Cyber Security Facility, also available and included as a 2D web-based application, is a three-floor seven-room layout featuring 18 unique avatar employees. Each room has specific purpose and roles. Each avatar has specific job titles, backgrounds, educational pathways, and inspirations. There are 74 flags scattered throughout the facility which users must uncover to complete the orientation module. There is real CMMC and NIST 800-171 documentation scattered throughout each room. The VR version of the facility features a Local Area Network (LAN) multiplayer mode with separate instructor and student roles of operation. This allows students and instructors to operate collaboratively over a LAN with the included network switch—seeing each other’s location and hearing one another. This is an exciting project of Envision’s and we look forward to seeing it grow into the 400+ schools belonging to the NSA National Center of Academic Excellence-Cyber (NCAE-C).
