Envision is proud to announce an updated release of the Who Are the People? Augmented Reality (AR) mobile application put out by the US Architect of the Capitol. Through a follow-on contract, Envision, under US AOC guidance, designed and developed this update in addition to prior original development. The application now features a redesigned and improved User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) as well as the addition of the following statues (in bold):

Abraham Lincoln
Amelia Earhart
Chief Standing Bear
Frederick Douglass
Harry Truman
Helen Keller
John Swigert, Jr.
Kamehameha I
Mary McLeod Bethune
Portrait Monument
Sarah Winnemucca
Sojourner Truth
Statue of Freedom
Willa Cather

In the mid-1800s, Rep. Justin S. Morrill of Vermont saw cobwebs and envisioned beauty. He suggested that states donate statues to create a “useful and grand” display of notable Americans. Today this National Statuary Hall Collection is part of the statuary that graces public spaces throughout the U.S. Capitol and the Capitol Visitor Center.

Now you can fill your room with some of these statues. Download our augmented reality application, Who Are the People?, to interact with the statues in 3D or explore the posts below to learn more about the individuals featured in this experience. You can download the Who Are the People? AR experience from your preferred app store:

Envision has entered another follow-on contract with US AOC and is in the process of designing and developing experiences for additional statues to come.

Army demonstrates power of mixed-reality technology for generator repairs.

APPROVED FOR PUBLIC RELEASE

Envision helps the Army demonstrate how mixed-reality technology could revolutionize equipment maintenance and training.

ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, MD., July 21, 2023 – Envision Innovative Solutions, Inc., a provider of custom mixed reality technology solutions and SETA support, is helping the Army realize the benefits of leveraging mixed reality, holographic computing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Machine Learning (ML) into a comprehensive solution that demonstrates how holographic instruction and predictive maintenance can enhance the operator, maintainer, or trainee’s experience in working with Army generators.

The effort is part of a contract between Envision and the US Army’s Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C5ISR) Center.

Envision’s approach keeps costs down by leveraging commercially available electronic equipment, utilizing existing maintenance guidance/data, and using AI and ML to prioritize troubleshooting tips. If the capability is fielded to the soldier, it will enable access to ultra-realistic holographic 3D models and animation, rich multi-media content, and useful predictive data—all overlaid through the user’s wearable mixed reality headset. This eliminates any confusion between textual operating procedures and the user—a significant improvement over the existing method of obtaining maintenance procedure instruction and data. The user would, instead, have all relevant information brought into their headset display while having both of their hands free to train or operate in real-time. The technology has the potential to enable increased productivity of the soldier with a minimal learning curve.

Founded in 2006, Envision has served multiple offices of the Department of Defense for over 15 years, primarily in the fields of systems engineering, complex systems integration, software engineering, and cyber security. In recent years, Envision has become a leading technology developer in the field of extended Reality (XR)—the umbrella technology branding that includes augmented, virtual, and mixed reality. Envision is a minority-owned, Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB) with certification in ISO:9001 and appraisals for CMMI Development Level 3, CMMC Level 2, and NIST 800-171 compliance.

Envision is proud to announce that the US Architect of the Capitol has launched Who Are the People?, an Augmented Reality (AR) application developed by Envision, for the Capitol. Statues in the Capitol collection reflect the history of our country. Download Who Are the People? below (for iOS or Android) and use your phone’s camera to see these statues in 3D with AR.

Engage with interactive content to learn about these individuals and the artists who commemorated them. See Helen Keller, King Kamehameha, Jack Swigert, Sojourner Truth, Sarah Winnemucca, and the Statue of Freedom in a new way!

Inside the app, users can resize, rotate, and walk around each statue to explore the sculpture up close. After completing special activities, users will engage with app “rewards” such as haptic technology that makes mobile phones vibrate or unique multimedia experiences. For example, the activity featuring NASA astronaut John “Jack” Swigert, Jr., includes the actual recording of Swigert’s historic radio message to the control room during the Apollo 13 mission. Users can also learn information about the artists who sculpted each historical figure from the Curator for the Architect of the Capitol. The AR app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play from the following links:

“We leveraged cutting-edge photogrammetry, modeling, and eXtended Reality (XR) game engine development technologies to bring you an incredibly real and immersive experience, wherever you’re at,” said Envision Director of Technology, Jonathan Carr.

“Envision’s AR technology immerses users in an interactive experience that tells the stories of diverse American heroes featured at the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center,” said Envision President and CEO, Alexander Cortez, Jr. “We see a lot of potential for AR in the tourism industry, particularly for museums where visitors want to learn more about exhibits before, during, and after their trip.”

Extended Reality (XR) technology developer creates interactive forensic science simulator.

NEW JERSEY – Sept 9, 2021 – Envision Innovative Solutions is proud to announce the release of Forensic EduSim™, the Virtual Reality (VR) forensic crime scene investigation simulator, on the STEAM store. This is our initial beta deployment of the platform and features simulation only without narrative, mainly for supplemental classroom use. The Forensic EduSim™ platform can be customized and expanded to meet the specific requirements of a forensic science curriculum in K-12 or college levels of education, in addition to law enforcement organizations.

Forensic EduSim™ allows for VR users to conduct ultra-realistic crime scene investigation simulation and then enter a forensic crime lab to review collected evidence. Official forensic investigation practices and evidence collection containers are used to optimize the educational training aspect of the application. Evidence collection, including in-VR photography, is logged for post-experience reporting. This is beneficial for students and instructors to utilize for performance assessment.

Traditional forensic crime scene simulation is limited by lack of environmental immersion, lack of adequate props, and unrealistic mannequin-based flesh wounds. While conveying the proper process of crime scene investigation, it simply does not offer the needed realism and shock factor that an investigator might experience at a forensic crime scene. The student is often limited to a single unrealistic school room area that remains static and suffers from bottlenecked availability.

Forensic EduSim™ resolves these issues by creating ultra-realistic graphics and textured environments, customizable props, and realistic flesh wounds as forensic crime investigators would experience in real life. We also feature realistic audible distractions within the experience to mimic real-world conditions. The high-end graphics of our crime scene environments and props holds the students attention and makes for a more memorable and knowledge-retentive experience-allowing the student to apply their learning experience to the real world more efficiently.

WASHINGTON – Dec. 1, 2020 – The U.S. Architect of the Capitol selected Envision Innovative Solutions, Inc., to create interactive, media-rich, and immersive user experiences for eight statues in the Capitol Visitor Center. Envision will bring the statues to life, including the 15,000-pound plaster model of the Statue of Freedom, using Augmented Reality (AR) that overlays objects with 3D graphics, animation, data, and other media, when using a smartphone, tablet, or wearable device. Public release of the application is expected in Summer 2021.

Visitors who want to experience the AR technology inside the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center only need an Apple or Android mobile device to access the app that Envision will develop. Interactions through the app will be triggered by recognizing real-world items through the rear-facing cameras of mobile devices. Such technology allows users to observe animation about the lives, legacies, and meanings of each statue in Emancipation Hall—providing an educational experience for students, friends, and family.

“We are delighted to have won the U.S. Architect of the Capitol contract to enhance the visitor experience at the Capitol Visitor Center,” said Envision President and CEO, Alexander Cortez, Jr. “Envision’s AR technology will give visitors the ability to interact with historical exhibits in a way that would be impossible in the purely physical world.”
